Our story

Our first product

We tried introducing toys but even they didn’t hold his attention. But then I came up with a secret weapon. I’m a bit of a handyman so I decided to bring the playground into the home! The DIY stores were still open so there were no barriers to how far my imagination could take us. My first purchase was some wood and screws and it wasn’t long before the first climbing frame design came to life. My son even helped build it, so it was a great activity for everyone!

Gym4kids arrived!

Since that day, the climbing frame has become a way of life. He uses it daily and even his friends love it. Mums and dads soon started asking if I could make similar frames for their children. I came up with a range of different designs and prices and the business took off.

Gym4kids now sells a range of climbing and activity frames that have been carefully assessed for design safety. Now, 5 years old, our son tests out each new frame and advises if improvements to the design are required. It’s wonderful to know that even though very young, he is directly involved in the family business.

Our story began at the start of lockdown when all children’s playgrounds were closed. Like many parents, we were stuck at home, doing our best to entertain a 4 year old who was quite happy to play with an iPad all day.
